Wake Up Expectant
It matters how we begin our day. Before the coffee is brewed or the to-do list starts growing, God invites: “Come to Me. Let Me fill you with hope.” Expectation is faith’s whisper in the morning: God is already here, already good, and already working.”
Let all that I am wait quietly before God, for my hope is in him.
– Psalm 62:5 NLT
Starting our day expectant means believing that God is already at work—even before our feet hit the floor. Some mornings we wake up energized and full of plans. Other days feel heavy before they even begin. But no matter how we feel, we can choose to begin our day with an expectant heart—one that looks for God’s presence and believes in His promises.
When we start our day expectant, we open our hearts to see His goodness in even the smallest moments.
Expectancy wakes up saying, “Lord, I believe You’ll meet me in this day.” It’s believing that His mercies truly are new every morning (Lamentations 3:23), and that He has prepared good works for us to walk in today (Ephesians 2:10).
When we approach the day this way, everything shifts. Our hearts become more tuned to His voice, more aware of His blessings, and more ready to respond to His leading. The little interruptions become opportunities, and the stressors lose some of their grip.
An expectant heart doesn’t need to see the whole path—it just needs to trust that the next step is held by a faithful God.
Today’s One Thing
Pray: Father, thank You for the gift of a new day. Fill me with fresh hope and holy expectancy. Help me to notice Your presence and trust Your plan in every moment. I believe You are already at work, and I choose to start this day with faith. Amen.
