When Hope Found You

Some nights the memories won’t let go. Hope finds you anyway—on an ordinary drive, on an ordinary day—and pulls you out of what you thought would never end.

I waited patiently for the LORD; he inclined to me and heard my cry. He drew me up from the pit of destruction, out of the miry bog, and set my feet upon a rock, making my steps secure. He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God. Many will see and fear, and put their trust in the LORD.
—Psalm 40:1–3 ESV

Mark spent months reliving the worst parts of war. He worked through a VA disability claim for PTSD and depression, retracing trauma and loss to get the help he needed. On an ordinary drive to work, a billboard cut through: NEED HOPE? Just a name underneath—93.1 WUFL. He turned it on and never turned it off.

The psalmist waited in a pit of his own. God drew him up, set his feet on a rock, and put a new song in his mouth—a song strong enough that other people noticed and turned to God too. God met Mark the same way: mid-drive, before Mark thought to ask.

One glimpse of hope can rewrite the rest of your story.

God works through ordinary entry points—a highway sign, a radio dial, a Tuesday morning. He meets you in the middle of your life, right where you are. The Holy Spirit used two words on a billboard to interrupt years of pain and turn Mark’s whole family toward Jesus.

Mark and his wife are baptized now. They serve at their church and give generously to a body of believers. And a new song reaches the next person.

God is already moving toward you, in whatever you’re driving through today.
Today’s One Thing
Talk to God about the pit you’re in today. He’s already listening.
