When Waiting Feels Like Withering

Waiting can feel like you’re standing still while everything else races ahead. You watch others receive answers, breakthroughs, promotions—and you wonder when God is going to answer your prayers. The ache stretches, the silence lingers, and you start to question whether He’s heard you at all.

But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles.
They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.
– Isaiah 40:31 NLT

Delay is not denial. Just because God hasn’t moved in your timing doesn’t mean He’s forgotten your prayers. You belong to a God, who times everything perfectly. While you wait, He’s working things out for your good.

Because we live in a fast-paced world, the wait can stir up temptations and doubts. You might start comparing your life to others. You might try to speed things up on your terms, but shortcuts often cost more than they save. Some days you’ll feel the pull to assume the delay is a no. Don’t buy into that lie. Growth comes from staying grounded in the One who sees and knows all things.

Delays don’t mean denial. In God’s hands, waiting becomes strength.

Those who trust in God as they wait will find new strength, like wings rising above the weight of discouragement. You won’t always feel strong, but He will always be strong in you. That’s the beauty of grace: it doesn’t require you to be full of energy, only full of trust.

Actively waiting and trusting in the Lord becomes a holy worship when you let it shape you. It’s preparation. God is forming something in you that can’t be rushed: a faith that holds steady, a hope that doesn’t flicker, and a heart that knows the difference between a delay and a detour. The wait may feel like withering, but in God’s hands, it becomes perfect timing and strength.

Today’s One Thing
While you are waiting, proclaim, “I trust that God is renewing my strength and preparing me for something greater. I will not give in to shortcuts or comparison. I will remain grounded in faith.”
