Worship Christ

When Jesus was born, those who truly recognized Him stopped to worship Him. As we reflect on the first Christmas, we’re invited to bring our gifts, our reverence, and our hearts before the King.

When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceedingly great joy. And when they had come into the house, they saw the young Child with Mary His mother, and fell down and worshiped Him.
– Matthew 2:10–11 NKJV

Not long after the birth of Jesus, a group of travelers from the East arrived in Jerusalem. They had studied the skies, followed a star, and crossed miles of uncertain terrain for the sake of worship.

They were searching for the King. And when they found Him, they didn’t hesitate. Scripture tells us they “fell down and worshiped Him.” They were overcome with joy—and their immediate response was worship.

Of all the gifts the wisemen could bring, the greatest was their hearts. And that’s still the offering Jesus desires most today.

They opened their treasures—gold, frankincense, and myrrh. But before the gifts came the posture. They fell down. These respected men, dignified and learned, bowed low before a child because of who He was.

Their journey was long, their understanding was limited, but their hearts were full of reverence. True worship is found in seeking Jesus, recognizing Him for who He truly is, and surrendering ourselves before Him.

As we reflect on the first Christmas, may we be like them—willing to follow, eager to worship, and ready to give Jesus our finest gift: our devotion. This is the heart of Christmas.

Today’s One Thing
Read Matthew 2:1–12 slowly. Picture the scene as the wise men encounter Jesus. Reflect on your own posture of heart this Christmas—are you rushing past, or bowing low in worship?
