You’re in a Battle
We live in the middle of a spiritual battle—every day, all around us. It shows up in quiet thoughts, in sudden tension, in the weight that tries to settle on your heart. Warfare is real, personal, and constantly pressing against your desire to walk closely with Jesus.
For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.
– Ephesians 6:12 ESV
Spiritual resistance sneaks in when you’re least expecting it. It can sound like fear, whispering that you’re not enough, or a distraction pulling you away from what matters most. It shows up when you try to pray and your mind suddenly floods with everything else you need to do. It shows up when bitterness seems easier than forgiveness, or when comparison steals your peace. Those moments are evidence of spiritual warfare at work.
When tension rises with a loved one or discouragement sets in, don’t just focus on what’s visible; instead, look beyond the surface. The real fight runs deeper—forces working to distract, divide, and drain you. Recognize it for what it is—the enemy trying to pull you away from God’s presence.
You never fight alone—Jesus stands with you.
When you recognize a spiritual battle, ask yourself:
Is this conflict drawing me closer to Christ or pulling me away?
Is the frustration isolating me?
Is fear drowning out truth?
The Holy Spirit helps you discern what’s happening beneath the surface. He reminds you that God has equipped you with armor: truth, righteousness, peace, faith, salvation, and His Word. Don’t shrink back—suit up (Ephesians 6:10-18).
Jesus has already won the war. Every time you stand firm, pray boldly, forgive freely, or worship through pain, you fight from a position of victory, not for it. You don’t need to fear what comes next. You’ve got everything you need to stand firm in Christ.
Today’s One Thing
Thank God for His protection and declare, “I stand in God’s strength, aware of the battle, equipped for the fight, and never alone. God is with me.”
