DESCRIPTION:POMPEII: THE EXHIBITION finishes its North American tour at the Arizona Science Center\, located in Phoenix\, AZ. The exhibition examines the lives of residents of Pompeii before and after the catastrophic eruption of Mount Vesuvius on August 24th\, 79 A.D. Over 150 artifacts on loan from the collections of the Naples National Archaeological Museum in Italy and the Archaeological Park of Pompeii will be displayed\, for a limited time. \nVisitors to the exhibition will travel back in time to 79 A.D. when Pompeii bustled as a commercial port and strategic military and trading city. In a media-rich\, object-based\, immersive experience\, they will learn how the people of Pompeii lived\, loved\, worked\, worshipped and found entertainment. \nA separate timed-entry ticket is required\, along with a general admission ticket to Arizona Science Center. Admission is free\, and everyone is encouraged to sign up\, play or cheer from the stands. \nThe tournament brings together 11 teams so far\, consisting of Arizona’s Cheesecake Factory and North Italia teams\, and for the first time\, a team representing Hope & A Future\, including young adults who have aged out of foster care. \nThe event will begin with opening remarks from Michael Brewer\, founder and CEO of Hope & A Future\, followed by the national anthem performed by one of Hope’s foster youth. Then\, five current and former foster youth will take the field for the ceremonial first pitch. \nGames will be played across five fields\, narrowing down as the tournament progresses. Fans can relax and enjoy a full lineup of activities\, including cornhole\, yard games and a raffle with prizes such as $100\, $50 and $25 gift cards. A new silent auction will feature sports-themed prizes\, including Colorado Rockies Spring Training tickets and festive fall baskets. \nThe event traditionally raises over $10\,000 to fund Hope & A Future’s programs. Additionally\, funds raised directly support their Annual Christmas Party and Gift Drive\, an event that truly means the world to the kids they serve. Many of these youth\, including those currently in foster care or recently adopted\, have never experienced a joyful Christmas before.
