SUMMARY:Mini-MEGA & MEGA Sports Camp
DESCRIPTION:MEGA Sports Camp is for kids 1st – 5th grade (grade just completed) at Pusch Ridge Christian Academy. Sign up for soccer\, flag football\, cheerleading\, basketball\, ultimate field games\, or MEGA outdoors. \nMini-Mega is for kids four years old – completed kindergarten. There will be various activities including music time\, a bounce house\, story time\, playground time\, arts and crafts\, and more! \nWhere:\nMEGA Sports Camp for Elementary (just completed 1st-5th grade) will be at Pusch Ridge Christian Academy\, 9500 N Oracle Rd\, Tucson\, AZ \nMini-Mega (for kids 4 years old – just completed Kindergarten) will be at Oro Valley Church of the Nazarene\, 500 W Calle Concordia\, Oro Valley\, AZ\n85704 \nDates: May 29th\, 2024 – June 1st and Sunday Afternoon\, June 2nd\, at 11am\, all campers and families are invited to Oro Valley Church of the Nazarene for a free BBQ & closing ceremony. \nTime:\nMEGA Sports Camp is 6 pm – 8:30 pm at Pusch Ridge (check-in starts at 5:30) \nMini-MEGA is 5:45 – 8:15 pm at OVCN (Check-in starts at 5:15) \nDo not wait to sign up! We are looking for mission minded adults to step into the role of house parenting. \nWe are holding special tours where you can get an inside look at what it is to be a houseparent and get any questions answered for those interested in stepping into this ministry. \nOur mission is to provide a loving\, wholesome\, Christian home for children who are separated from their parents and help them establish long-term relationships with stable parental figures\, preparing them for success in adult life. \nNo child will ever be turned away for financial reasons. Sunshine Acres does not receive government support for the direct care of the children. DESCRIPTION:She was valedictorian of her high school\, graduated with honors from college\, earned a medical degree and\, finally\, was promoted to a top rank in the U.S. Navy. \nRear Admiral Dr. Connie Mariano will be the speaker for the Saturday\, May 25\, breakfast sponsored by the Veterans Ministry at La Casa de Cristo Lutheran Church\, Scottsdale. Coffee is served at 7:30 a.m. and meal service begins at 8 a.m. Mariano will speak at 9 a.m. The event is free and open to the public. \nMariano was born in the Philippines to a Navy steward and his dentist wife. She earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of California\, San Diego\, and her medical degree from the Uniformed Services University of Medicine. She went on to have a distinguished 24-year career in the U.S. Navy.\nShe was the first to be named for these achievements: first military woman as physician to the President; first woman director of the White House Medical Unit; and first Filipino American to become a rear admiral in the U.S. Navy.\nIn 2001\, after nine years of service to U.S. Presidents Bush\, Clinton and Bush\, Mariano retired\, and lives in Scottsdale\, where she continues her work in the medical field as a practicing physician.\nFollowing Dr. Mariano’s presentation\, there will be a book signing of her memoir\, The White House Doctor: My Patients Were Presidents (available for $20 cash).\nBreakfast entertainment will be provided by The Uncalled Four Quartet.\nIn addition to breakfast\, veterans may visit the Veterans Resource Booth to speak with experts for information and helpful resources.
