DESCRIPTION:Earth Day Art Exhibition featuring work by local artists! Hosted by Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Phoenix. Showings are happening every Sunday from 11:30am until 12:30pm.  A portion of ALL SALES will benefit AZ Friends of Foster Children Foundation’s Keys To Success Program. Purchase work at the showings up until the 21st of May or email art@phoenixuu.org \nWHY KEYS TO SUCCESS: The goal of Keys to Success is to provide career development services for youth aging out of foster care that lead them to discover their potential and a pathway to living wage employment. Each year approximately 900 youth leave Arizona’s foster care system without families and the opportunities they need to help them succeed. As a result\, they are more likely than their peers to drop out of school\, become parents before they are ready\, experience homelessness\, or end up in jail – costly consequences that affect us all.                                                        Once enrolled in the program\, participants work with a team that helps them: \n\nIdentify short and long-term career goals\nPrepare for and secure employment\nIdentify and complete education/training that aligns with their career plans\nDevelop personal and independent living skills\nConnect to partnering organizations that provide additional services or resources.

DESCRIPTION:April 9th\, 2023\, 6:30 a.m.\nEaster Sunrise Service @ 6:30 a.m.  \nNorth Scottsdale United Methodist church @ 11735 N. Scottsdale Road\, Scottsdale\, AZ 85254 invites the community to welcome the joy of 2023 Easter morning (4/9/2023) with a live jazz quartet!  This sunrise service will begin at 6:30am on the main NSUMC patio.  Come gaze at the sunrise this Easter Sunday and be transported by the captivating sounds of New Orleans jazz while enjoying the spiritual message and song at our resurrection celebration.    \nWhen guests join us for the first service of Easter morning\, North Scottsdale UMC will combine worship with nature and the SON!  The service will include the culmination of our “Wilderness Sermon Experience\,” as led by our Pastor Christopher Wurpts.  Our song leader\, Darin Read will direct the pianist\, Donna Marie Hartley\, along with the saxophone jazz quartet on songs and hymns. The traditional Easter hymns will be reimagined in a New Orleans jazz style. \nFollowing the service\, guests will be invited to partake in a pancake breakfast that the NSUMC Youth Group will be offering the community in the Fellowship hall. This event is open to the public and donations will be collected to help sent the youth group to an United Methodist conference.

DESCRIPTION:Retired Army Major General Albert B. Crawford will be the featured speaker for the Saturday\, April 15\, Veterans Breakfast sponsored by La Casa de Cristo Lutheran Church\, Scottsdale. \nThe breakfast will begin at 8 a.m. and Crawford will speak at 9 a.m. The church is located at 6300 E. Bell Road\, Scottsdale. \nCrawford was born in Tucson\, Ariz.\, and graduated from West Point in 1950. He was commander of the 12th Signal Group in Vietnam and later commanding general of the USA Electronics Command in Fort Monmouth\, New Jersey. \nCrawford retired in 1976 and was well decorated for his 28 years of service. He earned an Army Distinguished Service medal and a Legion of Merit Award for his service in Vietnam\, and a Legion of Merit Award in peacetime. \nCrawford went on to earn a double master’s degree in electrical and industrial engineering from Stanford University. \nThe breakfast is free and open to the public. Donations are accepted for breakfast.
