Washington St.\, is set to honor its firefighter heritage by hosting its inaugural Fire Department Chili Cook-Off on Saturday\, March 8\, 2025\, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. \nThe event will feature multiple teams of firefighters from Tempe\, Scottsdale\, Glendale and more\, competing to be crowned the inaugural chili champion\, as determined by attendees’ votes. Each team’s chili recipe must incorporate one of Walter Station Brewery’s craft brews. \n“Hosting this event in our historic firehouse is a tribute to the brave men and women who serve our community\,” said Co-Founder of Walter Station Jim Erickson. “Since beginning our relationship with the Arizona Fire School\, we have become even more committed to fire professionals and we’re excited to bring together firefighters and the public for a day of friendly competition\, great food\, and community spirit.” \nEntertainment will be provided by the Fast 86ers\, an all-firefighter band\, adding to the day’s festivities. Embrace Grace is a faith-based support group meeting weekly on Tuesday evenings from 6:00-8:00 pm. We serve a meal\, and provide free childcare during the meetings. The semester is 11 weeks\, we work through a fantastic/fun curriculum each week. At the end of the 11 weeks\, we throw a great big baby shower for all of the women that attended throughout the semester.
