DESCRIPTION:Air Force pilot Bob Jeffrey\, who spent more than seven years as a POW at the “Hanoi Hilton\,” will be the guest speaker at the Oct. 14 Veterans Breakfast sponsored by La Casa de Cristo Lutheran Church\, Scottsdale. \nThe free breakfast\, sponsored by the church’s Veterans Ministry\, begins at 8 a.m. at the church\, 6300 E. Bell Road. Jeffrey will speak at 9 a.m. The public is invited. \nJeffrey was born in California and joined the U.S. Air Force at the age of 21. He was based in the Philippines\, flying combat support missions in Vietnam. On a flight to Vietnam his plane was hit and disintegrated in a fireball at low altitude. He ejected and was captured. \nAfter his return to the United States he graduated cum laude from Southern Methodist University then was assigned to Williams Air Force Base. DESCRIPTION:On Saturday\, October 14th\, 2023\, thousands of people will hit the streets and hundreds of cities across the globe to walk in a single file line\, holding posters and handing out fliers- to reach their city with information about human trafficking and how to end it. \nOur group\, Warriors for Freedom\, is partnering with A21 campaign\, which is a global organization that educates and equips everyone to understand identify\, and reduce the risk of human trafficking through programs like educational curriculum\, prevention programs\, and awareness campaigns. \nParticipants will park in the free parking garage on Chandler Boulevard and Arizona Avenue. It’s located behind\, The Look\, dine-in theater. The group will then meet in the park alongside Arizona Avenue\, off San Marco’s Place\, just to the South of the parking garage. We will walk South on Arizona Avenue to Pecos Road\, then cross to the East Side and walk North to Chandler Boulevard. All participants should come wearing a black T-shirt or purchase one on the a 21 website.

The event is free and the proceeds will be donated to the 4 Hero Groups listed above.\nFYI: Rockin’ 4 Heroes is an all-volunteer free tribute concert to honor our First Responders\, Active Military\, Veterans and Gold Star families. Join us on Sunday October 15\, 2023 at 2:00 pm (gates open at 1:00 pm) in Oro Valley at James D. This year’s beneficiaries include Dogs 4 Vets\, which serves disabled veterans to acquire and train their own Service dogs. Chef John Moeller\, a long-term White House chef and author\, will prepare a State Dinner; and the “Voices of Lee” a cappella group from Lee University in Tennessee will bring their musicianship to the stage. Charity Auctioneer Jim Miller is to conduct both a Live Auction as well as a Silent Auction. Come help us celebrate our 20th year of being on the Frontlines with “Freedom Reimagined”!
