SUMMARY:Men of Music Christmas Concert
DESCRIPTION:The Men of Music’s annual Christmas concert will be held at 2 & 7pm on Sunday\, December 7\, with Memorial Presbyterian Church at 1310 Ashman Street in Midland serving as the host. A freewill offering taken during this free community concert will benefit the Midland County Food Assistance Network. No ticket required. \nThe “Men of Music” chorus has been singing in the Midland\, Michigan\, area since 1936 (originally known as the Dow Male Chorus). The current membership consists of over 50 men. Our director is Grace Marra\, and our accompanist is Joan Kinnett. In the last 20 years\, over $67\,000 has been raised for the Food Assistance Network. Well over $100\,000 has been raised over the years for local charities.

DESCRIPTION:The Elks Hoop Shoot is a national free throw contest that has been unleashing gritty kids for more than 50 years. \nWHY HOOP SHOOT?\n• Gritty kids are determined hard workers. Gritty kids become gritty adults\nwith strong work ethics and goal-setting skills.\n• It’s free! The Elks cover travel costs for state\, regional\, and national levels.\n• The Hoop Shoot can offer similar life lessons as other sports programs. But what other program offers kids the chance to be in the Hall of Fame? \nThe event will begin at 11 am with registration and contest beginning at 12:30 pm. \nChildren will compete in their age-group. Age-groups are 8-9\, 10-11\, and 12-13. Age-groups are based on the contestant’s age on April 1\, 2026. \nYouth ages 8 to 13 compete to sink the most of 25 free throws. \nThe competition begins at the local level\, and winners advance through district\, state\, and regional contests\, culminating at the 2026 National Finals this April in Chicago. Seventy-two National Finalists will head to Chicago\, and six contestants will be named National Champions and have their names digitally displayed in the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. Contestants connect with new friends and learn valuable skills like hard work and good sportsmanship that will help them succeed\non and off the court. \nSix winners will advance to the district contest held on January 18\, 2026 in Thousand Oaks.

SUMMARY:Christmas Bazaar and Cookie Walk
DESCRIPTION:The Ladies’ Society of Immanuel Lutheran Church\, Wheeler\, Michigan\, will host its annual Christmas Bazaar on Saturday\, December 6\, from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. It will be held in Immanuel’s parish hall located at 10020 East Monroe Road\, Wheeler\, Michigan. That is the corner of M-46 and Woodbridge Road between Breckenridge and Merrill. \nA scrumptious “Cookie Walk” will feature a large variety of decorated Christmas and specialty cookies available at $8.00 per dozen\, mix or match. Other homemade baked goods and many flavors of Christmas hard candy will also be available. \nA children’s activity area will be provided to help entertain young guests while family members browse. Guests will have the opportunity to help decorate a Christmas tree\, vintage-style with popcorn and pinecones\, in celebration of the church’s 125th anniversary. \nMany unique handmade craft and stitchery items for Christmas and year-round gifts will be offered. Local crafters and vendors will help to fill the parish hall with a more varied assortment of handmade crafts and products. \nProceeds from the bazaar will be used for missions\, church improvements and charitable donations. The public is welcome\, and there is no admission charge.
