Finding Simple Moments

5 Practical Tips for Daily Connection with God

In our fast-paced world, finding simple moments to connect with God can feel challenging. Yet, these moments are often the most significant. Riley Clemmons, a contemporary Christian artist known for her heartfelt music and genuine connection with her audience, shared her experiences and insights during a conversation with us, offering valuable lessons for all Christ followers.

Riley recounted a deeply impactful moment she experienced on her tour bus. She was in the middle of her makeup routine when she felt led to take a brief pause. “I just felt led to  set a five-minute timer on my phone, turn everything off, sit there for five minutes and talk to the Lord,” she said. In those simple five minutes, Riley prayed for the Holy Spirit to show up, and God’s presence comforted her.

Connecting with God doesn’t require extravagance; it can be as simple as tuning out the noise and inviting Him in.

Riley reflected, “I think it was so profound to me because it reaffirmed—wait, it’s so simple. There’s nothing extravagant about that, but I loved that moment, and it was such a reminder for me.” Even amidst the chaos of life, taking a few minutes to focus on God can make a significant difference.

Daily Devotion and Bible Study

Maintaining a daily routine is crucial for Riley. She shared that these practices have been instrumental in her spiritual journey. “I think a big one has been doing daily devotion and Bible study and also writing in my journal to God, writing my prayers down,” she explained. These daily habits help Riley stay grounded and intentional in her faith.

Riley emphasized the importance of consistency in these practices. “Being somebody who gets so caught up in seeing how fast I can live and how much I can do, there’s something really intentional about learning to write my prayers down on a piece of paper,” she said. It deepens her connection with God but also provides a sense of clarity and purpose in her daily life.

Disconnecting to Reconnect

In our digital age, the constant presence of technology can be a barrier to meaningful connections. “Intentionally taking time to turn off my phone and tune into the people around me. It makes such a huge difference,” Riley shares. She’s noticed it not only enhances personal relationships but also creates space for spiritual growth.

“I was shocked by what a difference it made,” she said. She found a greater sense of presence and connection.

Reflection and Encouragement

Our relationship with God doesn’t have to be complicated. By incorporating simple practices, we can create space for simple, but significant moments with God. Sometimes the most meaningful connections with God happen in the quiet, unassuming moments of our day.

To those feeling overwhelmed by the demands of daily life, Riley’s story offers hope and encouragement. “We can complicate the things of God quite often in our lives. It must be done this way or in this order. And God’s like, ‘No, it can be as simple as tuning out the noise and inviting me in,’” she said.

God is always near, ready to meet us in the simplest of moments.
