I Knew God Loved Me, But I Couldn’t Feel It

Tasha Layton’s Turning Point

You’ve heard it before: God loves you.

But maybe you’re still wondering — Why is it so hard to feel that love? You believe it with your head, but your heart feels distant, unsure, or maybe even numb.

Christian artist Tasha Layton knows that space well. In a candid moment with Family Life Radio, she shared how God’s love started to feel real.

When the Truth Finally Sank In
“Some core things shifted for me when God replaced lies in my heart with His truth. He moved the truth that I know in my head—that He loves me—to my heart. Because we can think it in our head, but then we don’t feel it in our heart, and we don’t know why that chasm is.”

Tasha knows what it’s like to carry wounds that quietly convince you you’re unworthy, even when you know the right answers.

“I have wounds to go,” she admits, “but some core things shifted for me.”

At Family Life Radio, we often hear from people just like you. You want to walk in truth, but it’s hard to let that truth settle in your soul. You want to believe God loves you, but as Tasha said simply, “Sometimes we feel stuck.”

God began to meet her in that very place of disconnection.

The Truth That Changed Everything
“The one truth that I will always hold is God’s love for me—that He thinks I am the best thing since sliced bread. He thinks about me the way I think about my kids.”

Think about that.

If you’re a parent, you understand the depth of that comparison. You don’t love your children because they’re perfect. You love them because they’re yours.

That’s the kind of love God has for you. Fierce. Gentle. Unchanging.

This kind of love reshapes your identity. Tasha began to see herself the way God sees her. She began to believe she was indeed, the intentional daughter her Heavenly Father delighted in, full of purpose.

You Are His Masterpiece
To anchor this shift, Tasha turned to Scripture. “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, that He’s prepared for us ahead of time” (Ephesians 2:10 paraphrased).

But then she shared something that really brings the verse to life: “That word workmanship is from the Greek word poema, and it’s the word we get poem from. And when you get down to the brass tacks of that word, it essentially means masterpiece—like an artist’s crowning achievement.”

God treasures you.

“What does He say in Genesis?” she asks. “Every day He created something, and it was good. But then He gets to us, and it’s very good.”

“The crown of His creation is what He calls us.”

You are not just part of creation. You are the crown of it.

When Love Becomes the Foundation
When God heals the heart, you stop striving to earn love and start learning to live from it.

You don’t have to be perfect to be deeply loved. You already are.
• Let that truth stir your heart.
• Allow it break the silence of shame.
• May it become the very foundation under your feet.

You are God’s masterpiece. And yes — He really does think you’re the best thing since sliced bread.
