How Brandon Lake Sees Revival

A New Generation of Faith and Hope

“Revival” is a powerful word in Christian circles, often sparking images of large gatherings, passionate worship, and moments of spiritual awakening. For worship leader and songwriter Brandon Lake, revival is not just a public event—it’s deeply personal and transformative. He believes we’re on the verge of a new kind of revival, one that won’t mirror the past but will be driven by a generation ready to fully embrace faith in a broken world.

Brandon shared his thoughts with us on revival, the role of worship in this spiritual awakening, and how you can be a part of it.

Hope in the Darkness

The world today feels heavy, with many people struggling through difficult and dark times. For Brandon, this darkness signals that revival is near. “The darker it gets, the brighter the lights can shine,” he explained, pointing to a hope that stands firm despite the challenges.

As the world grows darker, the light of Christ shines even brighter.

It’s easy to feel overwhelmed by the chaos in the world, but Brandon sees this as an opportunity for Christians to rise up. He believes the world’s state is pushing people to step even deeper into their faith or walk away, and this tension opens the door for revival.

“I think the darker the world seems right now, the more expectation I have for what may be around the corner,” he says, encouraging you to view this as a season of spiritual opportunity, not defeat.

A New Kind of Revival

When you hear the word “revival,” you might picture past spiritual movements–mass conversions, healings, and renewed faith. While Brandon sees those things as part of what’s coming, he also believes the next wave will be a different experience.

“I hesitate to use that word, ‘revival,’ because we have this idea of what it looks like because of what has happened before. I don’t think a revival in the future is going to look like anything we’ve seen in the past,” he said.

Brandon envisions something new, something more personal. Revival won’t be defined by large gatherings, but by individual transformed lives, healed communities, and the church reawakened to its true purpose. He believes this revival will be led by a generation facing unprecedented challenges.

A Generation of Hope

Brandon holds a deep belief in the potential of the next generation to lead this revival. “I actually think this next generation that is the most tormented, the most anxious, the most depressed, could potentially be the generation that turns everything around,” he explained.

This bold statement reflects his hope that young people, faced with enormous challenges, will turn to God in ways that will inspire a powerful shift in the church and the world. Brandon continued, “I think this lukewarm Christianity’s got to go. People are either going to go cold, or they’re going to start burning hot for the Lord.” Brandon points to a future where the church overflows with passionate believers.

Worship is a spiritual weapon in the fight against darkness.

Worship as a Weapon

Brandon perceives worship as more than just a way to connect with God but as a spiritual weapon believers can use to fight against the darkness. “Worship is a beautiful and powerful tool that we can all lean into,” he explained. Worship can be the frontline defense in spiritual battles.

Whether it’s through corporate worship or your own personal time with God, worship is one of the most effective ways to bring heaven to earth. Just as worshippers were sent out to the front lines in biblical battles, modern worship invites God’s presence into the most broken places of our world.

Becoming Part of the Revival

So, what can you do to be part of this coming revival?

  • Lean into your faith.
  • Embrace worship as a way to draw closer to God.
  • Expect great things even in the midst of the world’s chaos.

“We’re not here just to have a little fun,” Brandon continued. “When you follow God, there are so many victories, and there’s so much blessing.”

Revival doesn’t have to happen on a grand stage. It can start with you, in your community, your church, and your personal life. It’s time to passionately pursue the heart of God.
