POSITION SUMMARY:

Intentional Life Media / Family Life Radio has an exciting opportunity for a Music Director / Assistant Program Director (MD/APD). This position plays a key role in shaping the sound, strategy, and daily execution of Family Life Radio’s music and on-air programming experience.

The MD/APD will oversee music selection, scheduling, rotation, and music research to ensure Family Life Radio delivers a compelling, mission-driven listening experience marked by broadcast excellence. This role works closely with the Program Director and Director of Broadcast Content to develop and implement music strategy, on-air elements, imaging, and programming initiatives that strengthen listener engagement and support the ministry’s mission.

The MD/APD will also collaborate with programming leadership to execute campaigns and projects that encourage listeners and support the on-air team in communicating Intentional Life Media’s mission: to affirm faith, provide hope, and encourage growth in Christ.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

MUSIC DIRECTION & PROGRAMMING

  • Monitor and review new music submissions from artists, labels, and industry representatives.
  • Coordinate and lead weekly music meetings with the Program Director and Director of Broadcast Content.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Manage music scheduling and rotations using G-Selector software with a high level of proficiency.
  • Conduct weekly music tracking calls and maintain positive relationships with record labels and industry partners.
  • Prepare, implement, analyze, and interpret music research projects, including bi-weekly and annual studies.
  • Assist programming leadership in developing and executing a cohesive music and content strategy that maximizes listener engagement and ministry impact.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Broadcasting, Communications, or a related field preferred; equivalent professional experience considered.
  • Minimum of five years of radio programming or Music Director experience in a station or network environment.
  • Strong understanding of contemporary Christian music formats and audience engagement strategies.
  • Experience with music scheduling software, preferably G-Selector.
  • Familiarity with automation systems such as Zetta or NexGen.
  • Working knowledge of audio editing software, including Adobe Audition and VoxPro.
  • Experience with digital content, web platforms, and social media engagement preferred.

PROGRAMMING & CONTENT SUPPORT

  • Collaborate with the Program Director and Director of Broadcast Content to create and implement compelling on-air elements and messaging.
  • Assist in developing listener-focused programming strategies that strengthen audience connection across broadcast and digital platforms.
  • Support the planning and execution of station campaigns, promotions, and fundraising initiatives.
  • Assist with scheduling staff for on-air shifts, meetings, and ministry events as needed.
  • Support programming leadership alongside the Production Department to develop and implement Family Life Radio imaging and messaging elements.

COMPLIANCE & OPERATIONS

  • Help ensure compliance with all FCC regulations and applicable legal, regulatory, and financial standards.
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of automation systems and audio editing software, including Zetta, Adobe Audition, and VoxPro.
  • Support operational excellence and consistency across all programming platforms.

ON-AIR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The ability to perform on-air hosting functions as needed is preferred
