Making a Big Deal about Jesus’ Birthday

Why we should celebrate the Savior

Dr. Randy Carlson

Birthdays are a big deal. We celebrate them every year—with our kids, our grandkids—and we go all out, don’t we? We throw parties, eat cake, and celebrate the people we love.

As we get older, I guess we’re a little less excited about our own birthdays. But even so, they’re still worth honoring. They mark something significant. They remind us of life, of love, of time passing and what matters most.

And that got me thinking…

If we go out of our way to celebrate the birthdays of the people we care about, shouldn’t we make an even bigger deal about Jesus’ birthday?

Now, He probably wasn’t born on December 25th. But whatever day it actually was, it’s still a powerful and personal reminder that Jesus came to Earth—for you, and for me.

And I love Christmas, not just for what it represents—but because it also happens to be my birthday. Being born on Christmas Day has been kind of special for me.

But even with that, the birth of our Savior is far greater than my birthday.

The story of Christmas is personal because Jesus came for you.

That’s why, this year, I want to invite you to join me for the Intentional Living Christmas Special. Between now and Christmas, we’re opening God’s Word together to take a fresh look at a story you may have heard before—but maybe need to hear again.

We’ll ask:

  • What is Christmas really about?
  • Why do we celebrate it?
  • Why is it still so important, all around the world?
  • And more importantly—what does it mean for you, right now?

When you tune in, you’ll be encouraged. You’ll experience hope. You’ll be reminded of who Jesus is—and what His birth means for your everyday life.

That’s our gift to you.

Luke 2:11 says, “Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; He is the Messiah, the Lord” (NIV).

This isn’t just a story we remember. It’s a reason we rejoice. And it’s a birthday worth celebrating—every single year.

From all of us here at Intentional Life Media—Merry Christmas.
