How Worship and Miracles Shape Our Journey with God
Consumed by Fire’s inspiring story
Caleb, Josh, and Jordan Ward of Consumed by Fire, joined us for a conversation where they shared stories of how they’ve experienced the power of belief, the beauty of God’s presence, and the legacy of faith that shapes futures.
Believing Without Seeing
Caleb shared, ” I think for us, the mountaintop has always been seen when you when you know that you believe. But then when you actually see it.” Yet, it’s in the unseen where faith truly flourishes. Recall Thomas, the disciple who doubted until he saw Jesus with his own eyes. Jesus said to him, “Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed” (John 20:29). “Caleb continues, “Jesus saying: Blessed are those who believe that don’t have to see. But it’s pretty.
Speaking about their father’s miraculous recovery from the brink of death, Caleb said, “Those, for me, are the times where I know we saw God today.” Against all odds, after multiple attempts to revive him, their father was given three more years of life.
The blessing of belief without sight is a journey of faith that each of us is invited to experience.
The Essence of Worship
Jordan’s approach to worship is intentional and introspective. “I always fully anticipate… meeting God more this Sunday than I did the last Sunday.” He believes worship should be a dynamic encounter with the presence of God.
Worship extends beyond the walls of churches and the confines of songs. It’s a personal journey, an invitation to meet God in the quiet of your heart. Jordan’s wisdom beckons us to find God in moments of silence, in the depths of personal prayer, reminding us of Matthew 6:6, “But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.”
Legacy of Faith
Josh spoke of their father with reverence, and touched on the indelible mark his faith he left on their lives. “It’s really what it comes down to—choosing surrender over cynicism,” Josh reflected.
Their father’s legacy is a vivid illustration of Proverbs 22:6. He taught them more than to recite the Word of God but to live it, embody it, and let it guide their actions.
- Consider the spiritual heritage you are creating?
- How are you living out your faith?
- Are you planting seeds of belief that will grow and flourish in the hearts of those who come after you?
Overcoming Doubts and Cynicism
In a world where skepticism often shadows faith, the brothers’ journey encourages a resolute dismissal of doubt and cynicism and challenges you to consider your own battles with disbelief.
As you reflect on their stories, consider the miracles you might be overlooking, the opportunities for deeper worship you might be missing, and the legacy of faith you’re building every day.
