SUMMARY:World War II POW Panel at National Historic Site - Andersonville
DESCRIPTION:ANDERSONVILLE\, GA – Andersonville National Historic Site invites the public to join us in the National Prisoner of War Museum on Friday\, September 19\, 2025\, at 11:00 AM for a special program honoring the brave men and women who endured captivity as prisoners of war and those who remain missing in action. \nThis year’s POW/MIA Recognition Day program will feature a panel of three World War II former prisoners of war — John Gleen Beville\, John Mock\, and Herb Sheaner — who will share their firsthand accounts of survival\, resilience\, and return.\nIn addition\, we are honored to welcome Brian Welke\, author of Boys\, Just Boys\, for a special book signing. Welke’s work tells the story of the 423rd Regiment of the 106th Infantry Division as experienced by the men themselves\, offering readers a vivid and personal look at the realities of war and captivity. \nThis is a rare opportunity to hear directly from those who lived through some of the most pivotal moments in modern history.
