We are committed to removing any financial obstacles that stand in a family’s way of providing K-12 education for their children and their unique needs. IBE accomplishes this through the Arizona private school tax credit program. LearningRx works with struggling students and even adults, training the cognitive skills the brain uses to read, remember, learn, and pay attention.
Many struggles with learning, reading, memory, and attention are caused by weak cognitive skills. At LearningRx, we identify weak skills using a comprehensive Cognitive Assessment, and then we target and train those skills by pairing clients with personal brain trainers for fun, challenging exercises for the brain. Doug is a former Navy Nuclear Submarine officer and Air Force JAG. How does this help you? Doug knows how to manage multiple areas of the law while bringing efficiency and a unique personal touch. Although Doug didn’t grow up in Tucson, he met his wife in Tucson while earning his bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Arizona and graduated from the University of Arizona James E. Rogers College of Law in 2012.
While earning his Law Degree, Doug worked for the Law School’s Veterans’ Advocacy Clinic; Chief Judge John Roll’s office in the Federal District Court in Tucson; and Judge Eileen Hollowell’s chambers at the Bankruptcy Court in Tucson. Doug also argued an immigration/asylum case at the U.S. Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals in Pasadena, California, under the Law School’s Ninth Circuit Pro Bono Appellate program. Doug was also an Editor for the Harvard Journal of Law and Public Policy (Vol 35, Issue 1), and worked with MBA students in the MBA & Law School’s Law, Entrepreneurship, and Innovation Program.

Keeping Safe At Home
A criminal attack against you or your family can take place at any time, as can a fire or other disaster. However, you can influence what happens to you by assuming more responsibility for your own security.
Residential security is a critical component of any personal security program. The following guidelines should be used in reviewing your residential security.
- All entrances should have quality locks–preferably deadbolt. Check your:
- Front Door
- Rear Door
- Garage Door(s)
- Patio Door
- Sliding Glass Door
- Gate
- Swimming Pool Gate
- Don’t leave keys “hidden” outside the home. Leave an extra key with a trusted neighbor.
- Keep doors locked even when you or family members are at home.
- Have window locks installed on all windows. Use them.
- Have locks installed on your fuse boxes and external power sources.
- If you have burglar or intrusion alarms, check and use them.
- Keep at least one fire extinguisher in house, and be sure to keep one in the kitchen. Show family members how to use them.
- Periodically check smoke detectors and replace batteries when necessary.
- Keep flashlights in several areas in the house. Check the batteries often, especially if you have children in your home. (They love to play with flashlights!)
- A family dog can be a deterrent to criminals. But remember, even the best watch-dog can be controlled by food or poison.
- Know your neighbors. Develop a rapport with them and offer to keep an eye on each other’s homes, especially during trips.
