Turning Up Truth with Laney Rene
How to Embrace New Beginnings
We all find ourselves seeking a fresh start, a new beginning that promises freedom from the past and a brighter path forward. It’s in these moments that we turn to our faith, searching for guidance and strength. Laney Rene, talks about embracing the new beginnings God offers.
“It was His Word for me,” Laney said, “I don’t just say that because it sounds nice, or it sounds like the right thing to say. I say that because His Word and the truth in His Word, really is what changed my mind and set me free from those patterns, those dark places I would get in, in the cycles of shame,” Laney shared.
It truly is the unmatched power of Scripture that transforms our lives.
When you feel trapped in negative thoughts or cycles of shame, diving into God’s word can be your lifeline. It’s not just about reading the Bible; it’s about letting the truth saturate your heart and mind, breaking you free from the chains that hold you back.
1. Make a daily appointment with God’s word, allowing it to speak directly to your situation, offering healing, guidance, and new perspectives.
Today, distractions are always within arm’s reach. Laney emphasizes the importance of “cutting out some of the noise … social media, my phone in general.” She encourages us to intentionally disconnect from the sources of stress and anxiety that crowd our lives.
2. Set aside time to be still and quiet, you give yourself the space to hear God’s voice more clearly.
Consider a digital detox, even if it’s just for a few hours each week, to realign your focus on what truly matters.
Amplifying the Truth
One of the most striking pieces of advice Laney recalls is to “turn up the truth in your life.” The world is full of messages that aim to tear us down, but God’s truth about our identity and worth is louder and more powerful.
3. Find ways to immerse yourself in His promises—through worship music, Christian podcasts, or fellowship with believers who speak life into your circumstances.
Laney shares, “I can’t stop the world around me. I want to sometimes, but I can’t stop it. But I do have the power and the control to turn up truth. And when you turn up the truth, you can’t hear a lot of the lies.”
When you amplify God’s truth, the lies and negative thoughts lose their power over you.
Godly Friendships
Laney also offers, “I had a really, really good friend come into my life who was like an echoing voice of God’s voice in my head.”
Godly friendships are treasures, providing support, accountability, and encouragement. These friends remind us of God’s truth when we forget, lift us when we fall, and celebrate with us in victories. If you don’t have such friendships, pray for God to bring these people into your life.
4. Be intentional about building relationships within your church or faith community.
Laney recounts a pivotal moment with a friend who helped her shed the weight of shame: “It’s time to take the blanket off.” This powerful imagery speaks to the liberation we experience when we let go of the past and step into the freedom Christ offers.
Like Laney, you might be carrying burdens from past decisions or feeling stuck in a cycle of regret. But remember, God is in the business of making all things new.
5. Embrace the truth that in Him, you are forgiven, loved, and free to begin anew.
Moving Forward in Faith
Taking the step into newness and freedom requires faith and action.
6. Choose to believe God’s promises over our fears and doubts.
It’s a daily decision to focus on what God says about us, rather than the negative thoughts that can so easily ensnare.
God is ready to write a new chapter in your life – one filled with hope, healing, and the joy of new beginnings. Are you ready to take the next step?
