SUMMARY:Searching for God through Art
DESCRIPTION:A special presentation is coming to Lancaster Presbyterian Church on Saturday\, April 22nd and Tuesday\, April 25th\, when art history instructor\, Alan Nowicki will once again go “Searching for God Through Art.” Part art history lesson and part theological discussion\, Mr. Nowicki will weave a series of new stories about the creation of various artworks and how it offers a glimpse towards God. \nThe program will explore famous works of art\, introduce pieces that are lesser known\, and look at a variety of media. Historical information will be given on the artists and the pieces\, including the likes of Rembrandt\, Vermeer and Thomas Cole\, to name a few. Mr. Nowicki says\, “This is my first presentation in this series since the pandemic and I’ve had quite a few questions come my way over the last few years. Sometimes the answers aren’t always so clear\, and you have to go searching deeper into the details of an artwork to find a higher meaning.” \nAlan Nowicki has been an art teacher for more than 25 years\, having taught in every grade level from Pre-K through college. He currently is the Program Director at the National Historic Roycroft Campus and teaches art history at Erie Community College. \nThere will be two opportunities to see the presentation; Saturday\, April 22nd at 4pm or Tuesday\, April 25th at 7pm. Doors open a half hour before start time with coffee and refreshments served. The program will be approximately an hour and a half\, is free and open to the public. Come be inspired by the art and how it points toward something greater.
