DESCRIPTION:Walter Station Brewery\, housed in in one of the original six Phoenix Fire Department stations at 4056 E. Washington St.\, is set to honor its firefighter heritage by hosting its inaugural Fire Department Chili Cook-Off on Saturday\, March 8\, 2025\, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. \nThe event will feature multiple teams of firefighters from Tempe\, Scottsdale\, Glendale and more\, competing to be crowned the inaugural chili champion\, as determined by attendees’ votes. Each team’s chili recipe must incorporate one of Walter Station Brewery’s craft brews. \n“Hosting this event in our historic firehouse is a tribute to the brave men and women who serve our community\,” said Co-Founder of Walter Station Jim Erickson. “Since beginning our relationship with the Arizona Fire School\, we have become even more committed to fire professionals and we’re excited to bring together firefighters and the public for a day of friendly competition\, great food\, and community spirit.” \nEntertainment will be provided by the Fast 86ers\, an all-firefighter band\, adding to the day’s festivities. Proceeds from the event will be split to benefit the Arizona Fire School\, an annual firefighter training for more than 800 Arizona firefighters with a focus on rural area departments\, and the winning department’s charity of choice. \n“Fire education and training are more critical than ever\, as we have seen illustrated recently in California\,” says Eric Kriwer\, Arizona Fire School committee member and executive director of the Arizona Firefighters Fund. “Partnerships like this\, and the funds generated from this event\, help ensure our firefighters are prepared for any emergency. We’re continually grateful to Walter Station Brewery for their commitment to supporting the next generation of fire fighters.” \nEntry to the event is $10 for unlimited tastings and opportunity to vote on your favorite chili.
