Encouragement That Lifts Weary Hearts
A timely word can bring encouragement to a weary heart more than you realize. God uses ordinary people to breathe hope into someone carrying more than anyone else can see.
When he arrived and saw this evidence of God’s blessing, he was filled with joy, and he encouraged the believers to stay true to the Lord.
– Acts 11:23 NLT
A few kind words can change the atmosphere around anyone. You’ve probably felt it before—a conversation that gave you strength to keep going, a text that arrived at the perfect moment, or a reminder that someone saw the struggle you never mentioned out loud. Encouragement carries weight because God wove into your words the power to build people up and point them back toward hope.
Barnabas understood that kind of impact. Scripture describes him as a man full of faith and the Holy Spirit, and everywhere he went, people left his presence strengthened. When new believers in Antioch needed guidance and reassurance, Barnabas stepped into their lives with steady encouragement.
You know what it feels like when words arrive at exactly the right moment—not perfectly crafted, just real. A word spoken in faith can shift what feels impossible into what feels manageable.
When you speak a word of faith into someone’s life, God shows up in the middle of it.
Jesus consistently spoke life into weary people. He restored dignity, renewed hope, and reminded people they were seen by the Father. The Holy Spirit still works through believers today in that same life-giving way. He works through you to help someone keep moving forward.
Listen to the Holy Spirit. Let Him guide you to those who need encouragement. A kind word may feel small, yet God can use it to lift a weary heart in ways you may never fully realize.
Today’s One Thing
Pray, asking the Father to show you who needs an encouraging word, and then send or give an intentional message to the person God leads you to encourage. As you do this, pray: “Father, use my words to reach the hearts only you can see.”
